Forum:  The Columbus Futurists monthly forum meets from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Panera Bread Co. community room (875 Bethel Road).

February 23:  “Are freeways doomed?”  Several cities are tearing down highways, creating bold new public spaces, and building a future without cars.  This discussion will be based on this article that appeared in Slate.

March 22:  “Real-life Jedi: Pushing the limits of mind control”  It is no longer science fiction: researchers have developed working prototypes of brain-computer interfaces that allow users to control what they see on the screen simply with their thoughts.  What are the implications of this emerging technology? Read the related article.

April 26:  “Well-being in Ohio”  The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index (WBI) is the first-ever daily assessment of U.S. residents' health and well-being. By interviewing at least 1,000 U.S. adults every day, the Well-Being Index provides real-time measurement and insights needed to improve health, increase productivity, and lower healthcare costs. Public and private sector leaders use data on life evaluation, physical health, emotional health, healthy behavior, work environment, and basic access to develop and prioritize strategies to help their communities thrive and grow. What does the survey reveal about Ohio?  What are the implications for residents?  What can a survey of well-being tell us about future trends?  Read the attached pdf…

May 24:  "How will we know / describe the 'Renaissance person' of 2020?"
