The June Forum (June 23) of the Columbus Futurists will feature a discussion on the topic: “Crime and the Future: Can financial terrorism permanently impact the path to economic recovery?” We have seen the impact of 9/11 and other terrorist events on commerce, travel, immigration and an array of other social functions. Recently there have been questions about the root causes of the 2008 financial crisis and all its ramifications, and whether there are prosecutable crimes underlying the crisis that has stunned the world. And there are even some indication that part of the impact was indeed yet another conscious act of economic terrorism. Is crime a “black swan” of history? Can crime now impact the directions of social and economic trends so much that the course of events changes? Your thoughts and input are welcome! As usual, the event will take place at Panera’s, 875 Bethel Rd., 6:30 – 8:30pm.
